Passion & Thought for Business Success
The most common quality amongst the successful business people I have known – the one characteristic they just about all share – is an insatiable passion to succeed. They all want to come in first.
They also love what they are doing. Love their products. Love the lifestyle. Love to talk to people about their products and company.
That’s why business owners are often the best sales person in the company. Their enthusiasm is contagious. No wonder people buy from them. If this sounds like you, then now is the time to get moving! However, before springing into action, please take a breath, take a seat think and write down what you want to do.
Taking action without proper planning or even thinking is a major source of trouble for entrepreneurs. As the old saying goes “hope is not a strategy”. If it seems like a good idea, before you take action, think about it from at least two perspectives…
1. What can I do to give it every chance to succeed? If I can’t do it right, why do it at all? What’s the best (optimal) way to execute this idea, as if money were no object? Now, how could I do that without spending that much or where could I get the money? With the money I do have, how much of the market could I cover with my “optimal” plan?
2. What will I do if the new idea fails? What are my contingencies? How long will I give it until I determine its success or failure? How will I gauge success – what are the goals? How will I test? Is there some way I can test the idea before I get in over my head?
The first criterion for anyone considering a new business is to pick something you can really get passionate about. After all, you may be doing it for the rest of your life and ultimately satisfaction will come through the pursuit of success – so make sure you love what you’re doing, THEN think about and determine where the opportunities are and how to make money.
